Ready for adventure?
These books are perfect for classroom teachers and homeschoolers who want to introduce kids to world cultures beyond just providing basic country facts and figures. These books introduce kids to the way peoples around the world think and live their lives. At the same time, they are chock full of intrigue, humor, and rich characters so kids don't even realize they are learning.
Our adventure books also serve as great launch pads to teaching other subjects (see workbooks below). Whether you need a world cultures curriculum, reading supplement, writing workshop, or critical thinking training, we’ve got you covered!
This is the second book in our first series of adventure books introducing world cultures. The e-book has been enhanced with pop-up images, recordings of foreign word pronunciations, and an end-of-book quiz and discussion page. Both .mobi (Kindle) and .epub (everything else) files are provided. Each book is written at roughly the 5th grade level, is between 45-55 pages, and concludes with an informative Country Breakdown. As our adventure books have an overarching storyline, it is best to read them in order!
After finally getting around to introducing himself, his family and surrounding characters, Crameye sets out on his own while his folks are shopping for things for their new apartment. Knowing he would probably do just that, his mother leaves a note for him with their building’s security guards that he has to be back home by 5:00 on the dot.Setting out to explore his new hometown of Taipei, Crameye takes in as much as he can in his limited time. He eats new and rather strange food, he helps out a dragon boat team, and he gets invited to meet the students of an English class where he learns what life is like for kids in Taipei. Knowing his kid sister, Buster, would probably sneak out too, he checks in with her and learns she is lost at a busy flower market. With only an hour to go, he races to find her, return home, and somehow cross through a temple parade that is going in front of their building. He makes it home in time, of course. Just like he always does.
What will kids learn?
Crameye introduces the Chinese language and how to speak the four tones of Chinese. Students will also learn about Taiwanese history, holidays, Taoism, superstitions, etiquette, ways of thinking and daily life in Taiwan. More, they will learn about tropical climates, geography, and some of the special animals there.
Who is Crameye Junker?
Crameye Junker is a 12-year-old living in Taipei, Taiwan with his family. These books were written by Crameye himself as he shares his family's adventures around the world. Along with his kid sister, Buster, and his best friend, Neva, Crameye struggles to understand why his family is always traveling, what his father's mysterious job is, and why he always finds himself in the middle of something amazing. Series One: Initiation follows Crameye on his adventures around the world until the ultimate and life-changing realization of what his family is all about, and the role he must play in his family's mission. These books are full of intrigue, mystery, and humor, as well as introduce the cultures of the world.
