Grief Counseling: While we never want to encourage children to pretend that their emotions are not happening, grief can be exhausting, especially for children. This activity can help give names to those “big”, overwhelming emotions children may be feeling and provide words for talking through the process. It can also give them “permission” to take a break from grieving when needed for a little while throughout the day so they can continue on with life. Use this activity to allow them to put their feelings in a suitcase to "go on with normal life" then when they need to open the suitcase back up to revisit their feelings, they can visit the suitcase again. Great for use with individual/small group counseling.
