This handout is designed to help students learn how to show instead of telling in writing a narrative. I find I must show students what showing looks like. I use the 5 senses (imagery) to give them an example of taking each sense and show more and more about a scene.
Although writers are often advised to show not tell, this shows a method to do this. I like to tell students that they don't have to tell anything new; they just need to blow up what they already have like a balloon.
