This tool addresses students who are experiencing self-esteem issues / anxiety / depression / stress / loss, etc. This provides the student with a "take-home" activity where they can write what negative thought/feeling/fear experienced at home, select a strategy from the second page to address their negative thought/feeling/fear, and then write feedback about if it did or did not help. This makes it easier for the Counselor to check-in after meeting with the student because the student has a specific task to complete at home which has therapeutic value.
Think of this tool as a "mobile tool-kit". I spent a lot of time hand selecting strategies based on: what works, what research says, and common coping strategies for the symptoms of depression and anxiety I see in elementary, middle & high school students.
