Product Description
It is okay for students to be sad or mad. Actually, it is inevitable! Utilize this resource as a place for students to come when they are feeling this way. Teach them that when they are upset, they are accountable for giving themselves room to breathe, calm down, and return to their daily activities. I make my take a break area a place where students can come to collect themselves utilizing kinetic sand, stress balls, fidgets, coloring books, and other sensory items to help them give themselves time to process their emotions. I also have them sign in and out so that I can monitor how often students are needing to take a break. At the beginning of the year, I give students the opportunity to take a break individually throughout the first week in order to familiarize themselves with it.
