This powerpoint presentation for middle school and high school students describes how to take notes following the Cornell method. Powerpoint explains in detail how to set up the note-taking page, how to do a title and summary, and has an additional activity, perfect for teachers using interactive notebooks. A video clip about scientists looking for alien life is embedded in the powerpoint, and gives students an opportunity to take notes on their own while watching an engaging and educational video clip. Graphic interface, and note-taking differentiate for different learning styles. Powerpoint is aligned with Texas TEKS 7.2(B). Although aligned with Texas State standards this powerpoint will be a great resource for any curriculum that includes note-taking and is especially valuable for the teacher that uses interactive notebooking. Addresses many common core standards (such as: “Determine the meaning of symbols, key terms, and other domain-specific words and phrases as they are used in a specific scientific or technical context”).Bundle includes: fonts file, links to video resources, two versions of the Powerpoint lesson (one with alien themed fonts and the second with standard fonts), and PDF version of powerpoint.
Approximately one to two periods in length (as a point of reference, I teach a 50-minute class). Created by Mister Science
