Author of A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson, Mary was a real life colonist who spent nearly four months in Indian captivity. Mary recounts her struggles and joys, her worst days, and her faith throughout the whole experience.

Your students will be riveted by this primary source reading! My students were captivated through the whole story. This activity also includes analysis questions and an introduction sheet, either for you or the students.

This primary source reading is an edited version of Mrs. Rowlandson’s book. It has been abbreviated for length to become useful in a classroom setting.
