This Earth Day packet is a great resource to use during writing stations or word work throughout the week. This packet includes ABC order cards, cards to promote Earth Day vocabulary through sentence writing, Earth Day bookmarks, a noun hunt (played like Scattegories game), and 4 journal prompts.
ABC Order Cards: Students will put the 18 Earth cards in ABC order. There is a recording sheet provided for them to write the words in the correct order.
Earth Day Sentences: Students will draw one of the 18 Earth cards and then use that word in a complete sentence on the provided writing paper.
Earth Noun Hunt: Students will write a word that begins with each letter of the word Earth for each type of noun (person, place, and thing). They can work independently, in partners, or small groups. Once all students have filled in all of their boxes with a word, then the whole class comes together to go through the words. Students who have the same word as someone else cross off their word and do not get a point. Those students who are the only ones with that word get a point. At the end, they will add up their points and see what their total is. (Scoring is similar to the Scattegories game.)
Earth Day bookmarks: 4 to a sheet, in color or in a black/white version to have students color.
Earth Day Writing Prompts: You can copy the writing prompts to create a journal students can use throughout the week. You can also give them individual pages to work on. There are 4 writing prompts and a cover page for a journal.
