Geometric shapes can be found anywhere: in the classroom, on the playground, on the school building and other structures outside. When students learn to recognize geometric shapes around them, their learning becomes more concrete. In addition, when students practice measure volume with concrete objects, they better understand volume.
In these 3 lessons, students will explore geometric shapes and volume using the outdoors as a classroom. These lessons are meant to enhance the regular classroom instruction on geometry and not to be used as a stand-alone unit.
