This problem of the day packet is a intended to help you prepare your students for the format and wording of assessments. This packet gives you a year’s worth of daily exposure to common core aligned test questions.
This packet provides 180 math test prep problems spiraling through the common core for kindergarten and first grade.
These 180 test questions relate directly to the common core standards for both kinder and first grade, however I feel this packet is most appropriate for kinder after the first half of the year. First graders could begin this on the first day of school and it would hold enough challenge throughout the entire year.
Working through these questions as a class will provide a familiarity for your students with testing format. You can choose to go through them as a group without running off any paper or have your students fill out their own journal page along with you.
Simply post the math question and work through it with your class sharing the pen. Discuss key words in the questions, talk about eliminating bad answers, use the paper to show work. Underline important numbers or concepts. Give your students every opportunity to see how to work through each question to find the correct solution. You can use a document camera to project, write them on chart paper, or run these into a math journal.
I provided the first 24 questions in the preview so be sure to check it out.
