This resource Pack contains 20 different resources with 160 pages of activities based on the novel “Taking the Cat’s Way Home” by Jan Mark. It’s suitable for work with probably a 1st/2nd class depending on ability levels. I’ve done this novel with a 1st class but I created most of these worksheets for work with pupils in our SEN setting.
This is a great read for younger readers and lots of work can be based around a class reading of the book. It opens possibilities for doing lots of varied literacy work as well as SPHE work on friendship and SESE Science work on animals, especially cats.
The Resource Pack contains a Teacher Guide with suggestions of work that could be done based on a reading of the novel. Among the 20 files in the resource, it contains activities that could be done as a whole class, as a small group or individual worksheets. There are flashcards of vocabulary used in the book; true or false activities; work on characters; grammar and phonics work; sequencing activities and lots more. Some worksheets could be suitable for homework.
