This download includes TWO games:

Game one:
"Talk the Plank, Walk the Plank" is designed for elementary age students. Players draw a pirate-themed vocabulary word and must give a good description or sentence. They can then spin the spinner and either move forward "walk the plank" or stay put "X marks the spot" The player to walk to the end of the plank first is out!

Game two:
Pirate Language Loot features 36 vocabulary words. Many of these words are Tier 2 vocabulary and great to utilize and apply in everyday written and spoken language. Assemble the map and sword spinner. Earn coins by correctly answering the task that you land on. (Make additional copies of coins page)
A graphic organizer is included. Use it as a supplement, as a follow-up or in place of the game included with the vocabulary cards. Keep a dictionary or dictionary app handy for those words that you are unsure of. Look up the meanings to help assist you in completing the game tasks. A vocabulary rating scale is included for all 36 words. Introduce this scale prior to the game portion to get a sense of the degree of knowledge students have for each word.
Put your pirate vocabulary knowledge to practice! 10 questions included that require students to apply their knowledge of different target words to a question .


A recipe card for a traditional pirate food--Seabiscuit or Hardtack is included.
