Do you have students in your class who wonder around when they are supposed to be finding a new partner to discuss their work with?
In a one off session, 5-10 minutes; Use one part of the template (the top row) and get the students to find and record four different partners. You can modify the conditions to suit your students making sure that they record a range of partners (ability and socially).
In the location area the students can record where they will meet in the classroom. You could set these up as a class before sorting partners so everyone gets their own space i.e. list 10 areas of the class they students could use.
After the initial set-up when you want your students to get up and move, stimulating their brain etc and find their partner you just say "Right you are now going to discuss those ideas with Contact 3." There will be minimal time wasting as the students know who they are meeting and where.
The remaining two rows can be used when the time comes for new partners. The Contact Lists - Speed Dials could be stuck on the wall or in your students book.
I use this all the time and found that it works well, as it saves a lot of time.
If you haven't done so already discuss ways to actively listen to their partners.
