Description
Who knew there was so much fun to be had with candy conversation hearts? This packet is a perfect addition for February. When needed activities have been made to include versions to account for different brands of candy conversation hearts. The colors included in the packet are: blue, green, pink, purple, yellow, orange AND white, green, pink, purple, yellow, orange. Most activities include a color version and a black and white version for those who would like to save on ink. The activities included are:
- Estimation Station (Students estimate the number of hearts it will take to fill the heart on the paper.)
-Sort it Out (Students sort the candy hearts onto the sorting mat by color.)
-Our Favorite Candy Color Heart (Students taste each color of the candy hearts and decide their favorite and a class graph is created.)
-Candy Heart Color Graphing (Students count how many of each color candy heart they have and color it in on the graph.)
- How Many Letters in Your Conversation? (Students count the number of letters on each of their hearts and graph it.)
-Candy Heart Cut Outs (Students count out the number of candy hearts indicated on each heart cut out and place that number on the heart.)
-Candy Heart Ten Frames (Students place the number of candy hearts on each ten frame that is on the heart.)
-Let's Talk ("If I was a Conversation Heart, I'd Say..." Story Starter with writing paper templates (7))
- Spread "Sum" Love (Students solve addition problems using candy hearts and record on the recording sheet.)
-Inching My Way into Your Heart (Students measure the hearts using candy hearts.)
-Worth It's Weight in Hearts (Students weigh classroom objects using a balance scale and record how many hearts each object weighs.)
-Spelling Mats (Students use these mats to spell sight words, spelling words, etc.)
