When going over a specific genre of books, we like to read many book of that type and compare and contrast as well as talk about what makes a story fit that specific genre.
This Tall Tale Folder and Graphic Organizer is perfect for the students to dissect and see what makes a Tall Tale a Tall Tale (larger than life characters and hyperboles galore!).
For the folders, what I have them do is take a large piece of construction paper (the 11x14 kind), fold it in half, and then decorate and glue their cover page on the front. Then we glue the graphic organizer on the inside. Everyday when we read a new tall tale, they meet me on the carpet with their folder, pencil and clipboard. It makes it much easier to have discussions when they take notes and have a visual in front of them. As a teacher, I do the same on an anchor chart and have the students help me fill it in.
Enjoy! Please check out my store and send me an email if you would like more me to edit and send you a copy with room for more titles to fit in the organizer.
