This short arrangement of Thomas Tallis's famous canon in B flat is an ideal warmup for developing balance, blend, and independence of parts. It begins in unison, repeats with staggered entrances as a canon, then concludes with a chorale-style harmonization. Dynamics include piano, mezzo forte, and forte, and percussion drops out for the middle section to get used to counting rests. Flute, clarinet, alto sax, and trumpet parts feature dual octaves for varying student abilities. PDFs of parts are provided, as well as Finale files if you wish to customize to your students' skill sets.
