Tangram Puzzles - Geometry Practice Pages for K-2 Math. These are logic puzzles where the students apply different geometric shapes (triangles, square and parallelogram) to build more complex shapes. By doing so the students practice geometry skills, spatial reasoning skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
This geometry unit is a part of the «Let’s practice»-series
. The purpose of this series is that you as a teacher can quickly and easily provide an alternative or a supplement to the topic you are currently teaching. Some students finish early and need extra tasks, others struggle with understanding the concept and need extra practice. You may find the unit useful for centers as well. The unit will help you differentiate and provide extra challenges for the students with different needs, while being able to move around the classroom providing help.
In this unit you will find:
✔ 11 puzzles in three versions, a total of 33 puzzles.
✔ teacher guide & explanations
✔ 9 suggested ways of working with the puzzles
✔ differentiated alternatives
✔ answer key
Geometry 2 - Tangram Puzzles
The goals for working on this unit are bringing the students closer to competency aims within geometry. Specifically:
→ recognize a triangle, a square, and a parallelogram
→ cut out and build complex shapes based on the tangram pieces
→ be able to recognize which shapes will fit in different places of the puzzles
A number of key skills are practiced while solving tangram puzzles:
→ spatial reasoning skills
→ critical thinking skills
→ problem solving skills
