This pack contains math mats, puzzle cards, puzzle pieces and a PowerPoint slideshow that go along with ‘Grandfather Tang’s Story, a tale told with tangrams’ by Ann Tompert*.
You can read the story to the class. As the animals change throughout the story, the students can create the animals using all 7 tangram pieces.

Math Mats (A4):
Included are 2 types of math mats: Mosaic (grades K, 1 & 2) and Outline (grades 3 and up). The provided puzzle pieces will fit perfectly. Each math mat is labeled with a name and number. Print the math mats onto white paper. You can laminate the mats for durability.
Puzzle Cards (A6):
Included are three types of puzzle cards: Mosaic (grades K-2), Solution (grades K-2) and Silhouette (grades 3 and up). Each puzzle card is labeled with a name and number. You can use the ‘silhouette cards’ and the ‘mosaic cards or ‘solution cards’ separately or you can glue them back to back. Print the puzzle cards onto white paper or card-stock and cut them apart. You can laminate the cards for durability.
Included are line-art and colored puzzle pieces. Read the instructions at the top of each page.
Interactive PowerPoint (2010):
This powerpoint was designed to replace the pile(s) of puzzle cards. The objective of this powerpoint is to first look at the puzzle, then reproduce it with printed tangram pieces and finally check the created solution with the given solution in the powerpoint.
Click on the '?'-button to show the silhouette to the class;
Click on the '!'-button to show the solution;
Click on the 'arrow'-button to go to the next character/element in the story.
