Tangram puzzles are a fun way to teach geometry, fractions and help children develop spacial and visual awareness. This packet goes well with the story Grandfather Tang's Story by Ann Tompert. The packet includes a nonfiction read about the history of tangrams with questions about the text, as well as a blank tangram to color and cut and use to create some of the shapes from the story. Story character shapes are included for students to recreate. In addition, a blank page can be duplicated to allow kids to create their own shapes/animals to share!
Great to use as a math center!
