This activity can be used in math centers or one-on-one with students (K-2nd grade) to help them explore patterns in numbers on a hands-on number line. They'll love playing with "real tools" and counting Really Big Numbers. If some of these activities are beyond a student's skill set, exposure to the mathematical ideas and having the opportunity to play with numbers are still valuable learning experiences.
Simple sewing tape measures work best for this activity and can be purchased for less than a dollar (usually 50 cents each at a dollar store!). You'll also need small stickers for the skip counting challenges -- sheets of star stickers work great for this.
