Water bears! Distance learning or in class activity.

This activity can be used on it's own or as part of a lesson on hydrothermal vents or the existence of life on other planets. I use this when teaching about hydrothermal vents. The driving question for my entire hydrothermal vent project is "could life exist on Europa?" and this is just one activity that is part of that project. This is the student activity. It includes background information, an activity to collect your own tardigrades and observe them(can do this in distance learning and can use strong hand lenses instead of microscopes or microscope attachments for phones), an activity to dehydrate and rehydrate the tardigrades and follow up questions. Background reading aimed at upper grade but could be scaled down. Students really enjoy the moss piglets, water bears, tardigrades!
