This grade 5, 6, and 7 ELA unit which teaches students how to recognize and analyze Figurative Language, Connotation, & Figures of Speech
This is a unit designed with the sole function of teaching the literary standard RL5.4, 6.4, & 7.4 which focuses on teaching figurative language, figures of speech, and the connotation of terms used in literary text. This unit is designed for specific targeted skill practice and intervention.
This unit is wonderful for an additional way to track data on the mastery of a specific standard. The unit, questions, I CAN statements, and activities are based off of research based practices and have been developed by an experienced and practicing ELA teacher who understands what you need. Lessons are intended to reach a wide variety of learners.
This unit could be used to teach an entire class, for Morning Work, intervention purposes, etc. It is very flexible and should fit the needs of your class no matter how you decide to implement the unit. lessons, and resources.
