This is a unit designed with the sole function of teaching the literary standard RL5.5, 6.5, and 7.5 which focuses on teaching readers to establish how a particular sentence, chapter, scene, or stanza fits into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the development of the theme, setting, or plot.
This unit is wonderful for an additional way to track data on the mastery of a specific standard. The unit, questions, I CAN statements, and activities are based off of research based practices and have been developed by an experienced and practicing ELA teacher who understands what you need. Lessons are intended to reach a wide variety of learners.
