Product Description
This grade 5, 6, and 7 ELA unit assesses and teaches students all about Citing Both Text Based and Inferential Evidence.

This is a unit that focuses solely on helping teach students to cite evidence in literature. This lesson is inspired by my own districts mission to help students learn individual skills strands as we help prepare students for state achievement tests. The lesson prepares students to meet this standard from grade 5 through grade 7. For higher test performance we want to teach UP and DOWN. This lesson does just that!

Passages/excerpts are rigorous, yet enjoyable to read (Poe, Grimm Brothers, etc.). Questions are both text based and inferential in nature.

Included in this unit/lesson:
- PreTest
- I CAN statements (FIP appropriate)
- Standard specific vocabulary
- Practice citing evidence in literary text
- Research based task to teach students how to effectively identify evidence and correctly cite their findings as they write.
