This grade 5, 6, and 7 ELA unit Is all about Determining, Identifying, and Understanding Point of View in Literary Text.

This is a unit that focuses solely on helping teach students to understand, determine, identify, and apply Point of View in literary text and writing. This lesson is inspired by my own districts mission to help students learn individual skill strands as we help prepare students for state achievement tests. The lesson prepares students to meet this standard from grade 5 through grade 7. For higher test performance we want to teach UP and DOWN. This lesson does just that!

Activities are engaging, differentiated in nature to appeal to the learning needs of the many versus the few, and texts are age appropriate. The activity teaches students to think about point of view in a variety of different ways and even requires students to use point of view in a variety of writing tasks where they must demonstrate the can apply point of view.
