This task card activity depicts picture of animals in which students will circle the beginning sound. The cards are in alphabetical order, but once cut out and laminated can be shuffled to offer students more of a challenge. Finding an animals for a few letters like u, x, and n was a challenge and called for a little creativity.

RF.K.3a: Demonstrate basic knowledge of letter-sound correspondences by producing the primary or most frequent sound for each consonant.
RF1.2: Demonstrate understanding of spoken words, syllables, and sounds (phonemes).
