Because the task cards focus on Measurement & Data, you will need to supply rulers that includes inches to successfully complete some of the task card questions.

Additionally, a recording sheet is included that provides space for students to show their work in one column and record their answers in another column.

Task cards can be used in so many ways! Centers, extension activity, small group learning, quick check of understanding of the standards, whole group activity, and homework!

Print Recommendations:

  • The Task Cards are best printed in color on 8.5”x11” white or light-colored cardstock, cut into individual cards, and laminated to ensure long use of the activity. This product can also be successful printed in greyscale. Do not shrink or enlarge the task cards as it will change the measurements of the objects. You may print the task cards on 8.5”x11” printer paper, but multiple usage of the product is not guaranteed.
  • The Recording Sheet is best printed double-sided on 8.5”x11” printer paper. Another option is to print on cardstock and laminate so that the students can write on it with dry erase markers that way you can reused the sheet more than once!

Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
Multiply side lengths to find areas of rectangles with whole-number side lengths in the context of solving real world and mathematical problems, and represent whole-number products as rectangular areas in mathematical reasoning.
Find the area of a rectangle with whole-number side lengths by tiling it, and show that the area is the same as would be found by multiplying the side lengths.
