These Task Cards are meant to help students understand Newton's Three Laws of Motion by providing 24 different scenarios.
TEK 8.6C Investigate and describe applications of Newton's law of inertia, law
of force and acceleration, and law of action-reaction such as in
vehicle restraints, sports activities, amusement park rides, Earth's
tectonic activities, and rocket launches.
Each task card contains a scenario describing one of Newton’s Laws of motion. The student must read each scenario and decide which law fits the best. They must then describe what the action force and reaction force is for each scenario. I have provided some answers for these but some of the cards can have multiple action/reaction forces. Take this into consideration when going over the cards with your learners. These task cards can be used in a variety of ways. You can hang them up in your classroom as is or in hallways for kids to work on answering each card. They can be printed multiple to a page, to be handed out as a warmup as well. There is a set with QR codes so that students can check their answers with their devices and a set without, or you can use the attached answer key.
There is a set with QR codes and a set without. A blank answer sheet for students to record their answers, as well as an answer key are included to help with grading. There is also room on the answer sheet for students to show work if you require this.
The three laws are also included as a reference if you choose to let your learners have a guide.
Previews are available so that you can see what the task cards looks like to make sure it is a product you would like to use and enjoy.
