Great for back-to-school!
This resource can be used as:
Students can work with a partner, in small groups, or as a whole class to take turns drawing a card and answering the question/performing the action.
Get that new class started by having each student draw two cards and then choose one to share and answer with the rest of the class.
Unless you are teaching in a public school, you’re probably already used to having “back to school” happen multiple times a year. If you teach in a private language school, chances are that you have only one to two months to assess your students, get to know them, and help them develop their speaking skills.
This resource is packed with 40 speaking prompts that will encourage your students to share with each other who they really are. The more you know about them, the better you will be able to reach them, and the further you’ll be able to take them.
These speaking prompts can also be used to activate minds at the beginning of a class, to wind down at the end of a class, as video homework assignments, or even formal assessments. Experiment with music, lighting, and seating arrangements. Try using them yourself and share your responses with your students so that they may get to know you better as well as hear a higher-level speaking model.
These prompts were written to stimulate your students’ minds and make them plunge into the deep side instead of just swishing their fingers along the surface. Discover the authentic side of your students as they peel away the layers that normally hide their true selves.
*40 TASK CARDS*
These speaking prompts are identical to the reflective writing prompts which can be found here:
