This is a group of 23 Greek “roots”, many of which can be combined to make words. Use these task cards in a variety of ways: Matching games, ELA center, Scoot game, bulletin board (where students can add words having the same root), concentration type game, flashcards etc. (You probably have even better ideas than I can think of at this time:) Roots are an integral part of our vocabulary and the more students understand what the roots themselves mean, the easier it is for them to understand higher level vocabulary. Each set contains a visual clue, definition, root, and application of the root.
The Common Core is putting a lot of emphasis on both Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes. Here is my version of the Greek roots.
The Greel roots included here are:
path--disease or feeling
tech—skill or art
arch—Ancient or Rule
phys—body or medicine
aud or audio—hear
