This listing is for task or role cards using during reading assignments. I use these roles frequently in my world history class, so the roles are tailored to history. The roles are: economist, political scientist, and sociologist. Each card has a description of what their role should look for in the reading.
Students are grouped into groups of 3 and each student is given the same article or primary/secondary source. While reading the article, the student only looks for information relevant to their designated role. Then, students discuss the article from the point of view of their role.
Using roles allows conversation to be richer because students are not discussing their feelings, they are discussing how their role would view the article/issue.
I recommend to print the role cards on card stock and laminate them.
