Building an understanding of multiplication.
Teaching students to build arrays is a great opener for your multiplication lessons. This activity is most fun when played with a partner. This activity will also add in those all important "academic vocabulary" words which are listed below.
You will need:
- Enough Skittles/Candy for your students to build arrays up to 10X10. (I have my students work in partners for this activity so I purchase two large bags of candy and it is more than enough)
-TSW build each array with their Skittles (or other candy)
-TSW then draw the array to match their candies
-TSW write the equation, factors and product that matches their array
*Small group intervention
*Refresher for interval teaching
*Homework Game- building the in home connection with parents
