Have your students create a tattoo about the content! This is a member of about 55 other activity templates that are based on the Multiple Intelligence Theory. This template uses the following multiple intelligences: interpersonal or intrapersonal and spatial. This template was designed as a mixed ability level cooperative learning activity for middle school but if you want the students to work individually, you can delete step one which states the student roles.
It starts off like all of the others in the series with students choosing roles: writer, reader, drawer, taskmaster and timekeeper. Before starting their activity, they will read the rubric so they know how they will be graded. An example of a tattoo is given. Students will create a tattoo based on the content the teacher placed into the template. They will write an analysis of the tattoo to explain how it relates to the content and then revise it. This is a fun version of a drawing activity. I did this activity when I taught about Andersonville Prison. It was very successful. This is NOT the Andersonville Prison version. It is the template I based my activity off of. Each step includes appropriate time limits to help students stay on task and move along. There is a rubric to help you grade.
