This powerpoint covers the history of taxation in the United States. Starting with the American colonies and the founding fathers. The tax system in the U.S., after the American Revolutionary War, was developed and altered to best suit our needs and interests. The tax system was adapted to the events that shaped our nation: the civil war, WWI, and WWII. It was also created to care for those who couldn't care for themselves, thus the creation of Social Security and Medicare. Though the IRS is often frowned upon, it serves an important unction for the United States.
These Powerpoint slides will entertain your students and give them a great history behind the taxes and economics that control our country. It would ideally be used on April 15, tax day. Included are charts and graphs t see where our current tax system compares to other nations. This could be used for a government, world history, U.S. history, economics, or social studies class. Please see the example slides and enjoy!
