This resource includes both a 32-slide PowerPoint and 2-page graphic organizer (in MS WORD and PDF format). All slides and documents are compatible with Google, as well as with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word.
This resource takes High School students (or middle schoolers if you scaffold it and break it down) through a breif history of taxes in the U.S. before taking a closer look at key changes in the newest tax bill (passed in December 2017, effective 2018). Slides pause and ask students to predict pros and cons of various changes before answers appear. Topics include: estate tax, corporate tax rate, individual tax rate, "riders" (oil drilling, healthcare, special interest groups, etc.), and much more. Students hear both sides from an unbiased perspective and take a stance at the end by selecting one of three writing prompts. Enjoy!
