In this Powerpoint, students will learn how all living things are classified and named. Students will be introduced to classification using a grocery store scenario as well as classification of their home (country, state, city, neighborhood, street etc.). Students will learn Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species. There are also some historical references to different plant names. SC State Standard: 6-2.2Recognize the hierarchical structure of the classification (taxonomy) of organisms (including the seven major levels or categories of living things—kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species). I also showed my students the United Streaming Video King Philips Castle!
