Aboriginal Art History Game: Get your students excited about learning art history and NAIDOC Week in Australia by creating an Aboriginal dreaming painting. Fill up your art sub plan folder with no-prep, fuss-free art projects that are easy to implement for substitute teachers. Great for art integration in the Social Studies classroom, homeschooling parents supplementing art instruction, and teachers wanting to liven up their art lessons with a game. This is a fun way to teach art!
QUALITY ART LESSONS
Each game board has been digitally designed and therefore prints crisp and clear, unlike hand-drawn resources which don't hold up well to re-printing. Additionally, all of the drawings are easier on the eyes of students with visual impairments as it's harder to decipher the faint lines from hand-drawn sketches. And lastly, each art game includes step-by-step photos that are detailed and clear, making it easier for students to understand each part of the art process.
YOU WILL RECEIVE
• One 7-page, non-editable PDF
• Dice game
• Step-by-step picture tutorial and directions
• Visual Arts Self-Assessment Rubrics
• Artist "Big Ideas" Reflection Sheets
Simply print out the game and picture directions back-to-back, give them dice, and watch them have fun creating their own aboriginal art design.
ABORIGINAL ART GAME DIRECTIONS
You will create an Aboriginal dreamtime painting by rolling the die and collecting the different parts required to create it. After each roll, draw the corresponding symbol on scrap construction paper and cut it out. Consider using more than one color of construction paper for each symbol. Glue all five symbols onto a large sheet of paper.
Pour neutral colored paints into small containers. To paint, dip a cotton swab into
your chosen color and make dots. Begin with the background by creating curved bands of color that sweep across the page. Then, paint the symbols. Create color patterns within some of the shapes to add emphasis to certain areas of each.
