If you have red, yellow and blue tempera paint, you can use this colour wheel to teach students how to create the intermediate and secondary colours! (Acrylic will work too, but maybe not as a puddle so much)
Mix a puddle of red and a puddle of yellow on a mixing tray. Put the tempera paint aside so as not to "pollute" it with dirty brushes. Always dissolve the tempera cake with clean water. Add a few drops of red to the yellow to create yellow-orange. Paint this mixture next to the yellow on the colour wheel. Add more red to create a good orange. Paint this between the red and the yellow. Add more red to create a red-orange. Paint this beside the red.
Repeat with blue and red. Repeat with blue and yellow.
Mix all the colours to make brown!
