PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This lesson helps students understand the principles of democracy using Judith Viorst’s poem, “If I Were In Charge of the World” (included) and music from Tony Bennett, Big Time Rush and The Lion King.

Students use the included template to create two poems. One from a "selfish" point of view and the other as a democratic leader with a responsibility to create a equitable society for all people.

Discussion questions lead the class through a conversation about the role of a leader and tie into the upcoming election, including campaign promises!
