The International Distribution Project is designed to engage students in learning and applying the knowledge in a potentially real life situation. Students are grouped, and then they randomly select a product out of a bag and then they select a country out of a bag. They are then challenged to determine how to ship one ton of that product to the capital city of that country from their home town. They must research information about distribution companies, closest ports, cost of each type of distribution channel, packaging costs, special considerations for the product to ship safely and so forth. This download includes a detailed lesson plan, worksheets for students to use to calculate packaging needs and costs, as well as how to use tools to create their maps. Scoring rubrics are included for their oral presentation as well as the content and quality of their presentation!
