In this project, students are assigned a section or topic and for one class period, they become the teachers. This could work for any subject and any topic. I came up with this idea when I saw the quote from William Glasser about the percentages of what we learn based on the method. He said that we learn 95% of what we teach to others. My students even said that they felt like they learned more doing this project than taking notes or doing readings.
I divide my students up and do this project for one chapter. Each group covers a section. They get three days in class to research and work on their presentation, activity, and test questions. You could give more or less time depending on the topic or amount of material you are having them cover.
Grading rubric included.
