“Teach Kids About Africa – Get Married in Morocco” is an engaging, participatory world cultures lesson about Morocco for kids that introduces them to the Imilchil Marriage Festival, a Berber community celebration in the Atlas Mountains at which traditional Berber families meet to find marriage matches for their sons and daughters. Kids will meet Morocco and the Berber culture, explore the concepts of marriage in Morocco and in their own communities (in age-appropriate ways), then get up and experience a classroom/living room version of the festival itself.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a step-by-step "How to celebrate the Imilchil Marriage Festival" lesson. The goal of this lesson is to provide the tools for you to treat your students to their very first introduction to the concept of the festival and to inspire you and even your youngest students to get up and enjoy our version of the celebration together. Ideally the lesson will be the first step on your and your students' road to further Moroccan exploration.

All Around This World is a global music and world cultures program that introduces kids and their grown-ups to the world using enlivening international rhythms and movement.

No materials, foreknowledge of Africa or dance ability necessary. Imagination and an open mind required.
