“Teach Kids About China – Let's Dance the Lion Dance and Dragon Dance" is an engaging, participatory world cultures lesson about China for kids that invites them to experience Chinese new year dancing. Kids will learn about the Chinese new year and meet the arts of Lion Dancing and Dragon Dancing, getting an inside glimpse at what the performers are doing beneath their colorful costumes as they make magic in the streets.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a step-by-step "How to do the Lion Dance and Dragon Dance" lesson. The goal of this lesson is to provide the tools for you to treat your students to their very first introduction to Chinese new year dancing and to inspire you and even your youngest students to get up and dance together. You're not going to learn complex footwork; the mission is to enjoy the experience together. Ideally the lesson will be the first step on your and your students' road to further Chinese cultural exploration.

All Around This World is a global music and world cultures program that introduces kids and their grown-ups to the world using enlivening international rhythms and movement.
