Product Description

“Teach Kids About China – Let's Sing 'My Dear Mama'” is a world music lesson about China for kids that uses a simple sing-along to introduce them to Chinese melodies and culture. “My Dear Mama" is a simple song in Mandarin that invites us, teachers and parents, to pretend that the kids we raise and the students they teach actually appreciate us. Of course they do!

The original song is in Mandarin, though we sing in English.

All Around This World is a global music and world cultures program that introduces kids and their grown-ups to the world using enlivening international rhythms and movement. Subscribe to "All Around This World" through http://www.Patreon.com/AllAroundThisWorld and receive weekly full online classes and interactive pdf lessons for your family or classroom.

No materials or musical knowledge necessary to enjoy this lesson. Imagination and an open mind required.

Lesson includes:
-- Interactive PDF with background information introducing Taiwan and links to teacher training video and All Around This World's “Teach Kids 'My Dear Mama'” video.

-- An mp3 of All Around This World's recording of the song embedded in the PDF

-- Lyrics and sheet music (with guitar chords)

-- In the “How to Teach Kids 'My Dear Mama” video, All Around This World founder and lead teacher Jay Sand introduces you to “My Dear Mama” and suggests ways to share the song with kids, from infants-in-arms to 9 year-olds. In case you feel less than confident about singing with your students, the video includes a section with Jay teaching the song directly to kids. ** Teacher training videos are on Vimeo.com. Please make sure you can access Vimeo videos before you buy the lesson.

-- Access to password-protected “Bouncing Ball Sing-Along” video so you and your students can learn the song.

-- Printable summary of lesson for kids to take home (both color and back and white)

All Around This World lessons are a small part of Jay Sand's independently crafted, mission-driven educational project that includes:
-- weekly online classes (Jay makes a new class available each week for families and schools to share with their students)
-- Award-winning multilingual CDs such as All Around This World: Latin America and All Around This World: Africa
-- the All Around This World website, with over 1,000 pages that introduce kids and their families to music and culture from every inhabited continent
-- parent-child classes, family-friendly concerts and school workshops and always much more...

This lesson is licensed for use in one classroom or for one family, or for use by a "traveling" teacher (such as a music teacher who visits several classrooms in a school). Multiple licenses are available at a 50% discount.

** Why does this lesson cost less than others in the All Around This World store? AATW's $4 song lessons feature mp3s recorded in the studio with accomplished musicians, most of whom hail from the country or region of the world where the song originated. AATW's $3.50 song lessons share the same learning opportunities as AATWs other song lessons but the embedded mp3 is a personal performance of the somg by Jay.
