PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a fun project that allows your students to become the “teacher” for part of the day! I usually do this project towards the end of the year once things have slowed down a bit and when students are more comfortable in front of one another. However, it would be great to do at any time of the year to assess speaking and listening standards, which often time get overlooked. Students love this project because they have the creative control to put the learning of a topic in their own hands and study something, which is of interest to them. This can be an individual or group project depending on what you choose. Have fun with this and encourage creativity!

Page 5 – Visual Ideas to Enhance Student Presentations (This part could be optional, but I think the technology component would be a great addition to your in class presentations. Your GATE students would probably love the challenge!)
Page 6 – Letter to the Parents
Page 7 – Student Checklist (This helps hold students accountable and organized for all parts of the project.)
Page 8 – Oral Presentation Reminder (This half-sheet is a note to send home letting parents know their child’s presentation day and ways they can help their child prepare at home.)

Page 10 – Peer Feedback/Compliments Form (To hold the audience of students accountable for listening during the oral presentations, I have each child fill out one of the feedback forms. I explain to the class ahead of time that all comments should be positive. Once a student has presented, I collect all of the feedback forms and put them in an envelope for the presenter to read when they get home. The presenters are always excited to have positive notes to read about their presentations!)
