Piaget said that play is the work of children. Why make them quit when you can use WHAT they play and HOW they play, in class? Putting puzzles together is a big part of Childhood Development tools. Look at a page of Sentence Fill-In’s, and if you don’t see a puzzle with words to put in empty spaces, instead of picture pieces, you’ve become too much of an expert to remember how things looked before you were one. Safe bet, you haven’t, and see it right away. Let the students see for themselves how much they already know, which they can use to understand everything they don’t, and learn everything faster, easier, and better that way. Now they have accelerated, rather than incremental learning one piece at a time, all their lives.
