This program was piloted 4 years ago in an elementary building. It is designed to more effectively integrate students with and without disabilities, promote understanding and reduce bullying. Preliminary data for the pilot class indicates a reduction in bullying and teachers have reported that the class of students in general has been more accepting and supportive of students with and without disabilities.
This paper provides information on the mechanics of the program as well as several activity suggestions. Activities are designed to be interactive, promote cooperation and rely minimally on expressive language.
