How many times have you been asked by a parent if they have already given you money? Better yet, how many times have you had a parent try and convince you that they have already given you their money? The Money Binder is the solution to this problem, it is a tool to help declutter, organize, and keep everything “money” related in one binder. Just choose your cover of choice (there are 12 color variations to choose from, as well as 2 title choices: Show Me the Money and The Money Binder), and slide into your 1-2 inch binder. Then print the student list and divider sheets on cardstock paper, and laminate for durability.
The very last divider is the Stash the Cash divider. This is where you would reinforce a gallon sized freezer baggie and put all your money as it comes in. Sometimes our days get busy and we aren’t able to immediately take the money to the office. This gives a safe place for the money to stay and an easy way to transport the money to its proper location.
You will write student names onto the student list with a fine tip Sharpie once laminated. This will allow you to clean with alcohol at the end of each year and reuse the money binder over and over each year. (If you want to change things up from year to year, you can always just choose another color for your cover choice!) Each color on the student list matches up to the divider tab that belongs to that student. Reinforce a quart sized baggie with tape, then hole-punch, and place one baggie behind each divider. The last step is to print a large amount of teacher record papers (basically a receipt), cut them up and have them ready in a baggie at the front of your binder.
When you receive money from a student you will fill out the teacher record and slide it into that student’s baggie behind their tab. Record sheets include student name, $ amount, date, who the money was given by (in case split family is involved), and then there are choices to check off what the money was for: lunch, field trip, party, library, fundraiser, school store, other.
The final tool included in this purchase is a field trip checklist that will allow you to write in your student’s names, then make copies for use with all of your field trips. It has columns for student name, paid, bring lunch (BL)/Café Lunch (CL), and parent chaperone. At the top of the checklist there is a spot to write in which field trip the checklist is for.
