Description
This interactive workbook guides students through the process of learning basic Hebrew grammar. Students who are ready can try to complete the packet alone as independent work. It also works as a guided lesson, with extensive teacher notes to support the teacher (or parent) - requiring no previous knowledge of Hebrew grammar (or of grammar in general!)
The following topics are included:
- Personal pronouns in Hebrew
- Grammatical number (singular/plural) and gender (masculine/feminine) in Hebrew nouns, pronouns, and verbs
- The word roots זכר, בנה, היה, and רפה
- Conjugations of regular and irregular verbs in past tense
- How to conjugate a Hebrew word root that ends with the letter ה
- Translating from Hebrew to English and vice versa
A number of activities are included to help students practice:
- A complete list of key terms (both English and Hebrew)
- A "pre-learning" activity to get students thinking about grammar
- Fill-in-the-blanks activities and questions throughout each lesson to encourage an interactive, student-driven learning process
- "Challenges" after each lesson to help students apply their new skills
This packet is part of a series of lessons that teach children Hebrew grammar in a clear and organized way. Grammar concepts are broken down into small, digestible chunks and explained on an age-appropriate level. The purpose of this series is to teach fundamental grammar and all the skills required for translation. Students will progress through levels of guided practice with the eventual goal of translating whole sentences on their own.
This series assumes basic proficiency in Hebrew reading. Before beginning this series, students must know all the consonants and vowels of the Hebrew alphabet and be able to read whole words.
On the other hand, this series assumes no prior experience with grammar concepts or terminology. All grammatical terms are explained in age-appropriate language.
