If you're looking for an interactive lesson plan focusing around social justice in Latin America, look no further! This resource circles teaches students about the 2006 Oaxacan Teacher's Protest and teaches students the "ellos" form phrases "son", "hay", "caminan", "quieren", "dicen" and "van".

First, students read the story on their own, circling any unknown words, and underlining any cognates they find. Afterwards, students and the teacher read the story together as a chorus. Next, students complete the "airplane reading" strategy to fully comprehend and read through the text with a partner.

After thoroughly analyzing the text, students will answers questions in Spanish to test their knowledge of the reading, and analyze a few photos from the 2006 protest.
